The exhibition Tierra Nativa acknowledges long-standing friendship and roots and shared passions. The works selected show the importance of drawing and work on paper in the creation of two internationally acclaimed Mexican artists: José Villalobos (1950) and Luis Zárate (1951). Both pay a constant tribute to their homeland, the state of Oaxaca.
José Villalobos takes us back to the primordial, to the basic elements of the territory and nature. A plastic and sensory abstraction that seems to reflect the rocks, water, wind and inorganic forms of his native land through earth tones and colors typical of Mexican primitive cultures. Luis Zárate displays a wide imaginary through different experimental proposals of matter and color with which he forges an iconography for his creatures: skulls, butterflies, hummingbirds, chapolines and horses.
