PALACIO DE VERANO. THE COLECCIÓN NORTE AT THE SOBRELLANO PALACE
Sobrellano Palace
Comillas (Cantabria), July 2020
In Palacio de Verano the artworks enter the rooms like guests enjoying the summer season in the neo-Gothic palace, built by the Catalan architects Joan Martorell and Cristóbal Cascante between 1884 and 1888 as the summer residence of the Marquises of Comillas.
Through a small selection of works by relevant Spanish and international artists, whose works make up the Norte Collection, we will once again inhabit these spaces that form part of an exceptional cultural landscape: the Comillas experiment in the creation of Catalan modernism, while evoking the context of the Bourbon Restoration in Spain (1874 – 1931) and its traces in the present day.
